Pro-Tips

  • Bring everything you may need to the hospital for post-delivery. Some Korean hospitals will not have items you may be accustomed to if you delivered previously in the U.S. Examples include a heating pad for pain, pads/adult diapers for mom, and a breast pump.
  • Try the Korean food they offer post-delivery. Seaweed soup is said to be great for healing after delivery. However, you can always ask for an American menu if you prefer.
  • Make sure you have a translation app  downloaded on your phone. Even if your OB speaks English, others in the hospital staff may not be fluent, including the nurses you will interact with during your stay.
  • As with any pregnancy, have a plan, but be prepared to be flexible to meet your baby’s needs.
  • Remember, Korea has 51 million people, and most of them were all born here…it may be different, but your doctor knows what to do and, in the end, it’ll be alright!

Bundles for Babies

This program is designed by M&FRC to support expecting and new military families, particularly those experiencing the arrival of a baby for the first time. It provides practical assistance, educational resources, and financial advice to help military families manage the challenges and expenses associated with welcoming a new child into their family. Participants in the Bundles for Babies program may receive a variety of support, including but not limited to:

Educational Classes: These sessions cover topics relevant to pregnancy, childbirth, newborn care, parenting skills, financial preparation for a baby, and the impact of a new child on military life and deployments.

Free Bundle of Baby Essentials: Families often receive a “bundle” that includes essential baby items such as blankets, clothing, diapers, and other newborn necessities. The contents of the bundle can vary depending on the location and available resources.

Community Support: The program connects military families with resources within their community and the military network, providing a support system for expectant and new parents.

Financial Counseling: Given the financial impact of a new family member, the program sometimes includes advice on budgeting, saving, and preparing financially for a baby.

The goal of Bundles for Babies is to ensure all military families have the knowledge, resources, and support needed to confidently welcome their new addition. Contact Osan’s M&FRC for detailed information and eligibility criteria.
